Military Wives Choir - Albemarle Barracks

Image result for military wives choir logo

Calling all budding singers:)  would you like to be a part of our military wives choir? a chance for everyone to get together and support each other through singing, fun and friendship.

We meet every Wednesday evening at 7.15pm during term time in the regimental chapel above RHQ.

Even if you think you cant sing please come and give it a try or maybe there's another role there that you can help with.  The more the merrier, Lets bring our community together.  This is open to all including serving females.

Any enquiries please email newcastle@militarywiveschoirs.org or contact Debra Ackroyd at HIVE for more information.

We bring women in the military community closer together through singing!
Military Wives Choirs provide a head-start for women in the military community to make new friends, connect with local communities and learn new skills in a fun and supportive environment.

Families of service personnel move around frequently and it can be tough to put down roots, make new friends and get to know people in the local community. Add to that the stresses and strains of loved ones being deployed away from home often for long periods, and life can have its challenges.

But by coming together to sing, each choir creates a valuable support network for women in the military community. Choir members can help one another through the tough times, celebrate the good times and sing through it all together!

Now with a network of over 75 choirs, the Military Wives Choirs Foundation supports women in the British military community in the UK, Germany, Cyprus and further afield, wherever our forces are based.

Just as much as they build up unbreakable bonds, our choirs also break down barriers. We're in this together!

Little Troopers Treasures

Little Troopers Treasures

Afternoon!

We wanted to brighten your Monday and let you know a bit more about our free story reading app for British Armed Forces families from us at Little Troopers, we'd love for you to let all your families know that this resource is available for them to use.

Little Troopers Treasures is a project we partnered with Harper Collins children's books to bring to forces families, currently there are nine books available to record.

> The service family downloads the app then creates a family login, the service person then logs in wherever they may be (WIFI needed) or before they go away and records some stories, the app captures their face, voice and the book pages.

> Once done the app zips up the story with lots of love and immediately the service child can go to the Little Trooper mode of the family login and there will be a surprise story waiting! They can watch the stories, or listen, over and over again.

> There are also some free supporting resources for families to accompany this app, a weekly planner sheet to print off and use plus separation diaries for both parent and child to complete while separated and then share once reunited.

All the information and download links plus the resources files to print off can be found HERE

SSAFA - Stepping Stones Homes

SSAFA Stepping Stone Homes

SSAFAs Stepping Stone Homes based in both the North East and the South of England provide short-term supported accommodation, help and advice to female service or ex-serving personnel, the female spouses or partners of serving or ex-serving personnel, and their dependent children.

Support is also provided to women without children or whose children may be living elsewhere temporarily, those seeking accommodation due to welfare needs, and Foreign & Commonwealth cases.  The above list is not exhaustive.  Each case will be considered individually.

Our homes provide a comfortable, secure and female-only place to stay for as long as it takes the resident to get back on their feet.  From our clean and well-maintained communal spaces to private areas for each resident to make their own, we make our houses like home for however long the resident is with us.

The schemes are also registered with local authorities as refuges for those fleeing domestic abuse and, as such, their locations are not to be disclosed to the public.  Referrals can be made via the email addresses below:

North - Longside House : longside@ssafa.org.uk
South - Gildea House: gildea@ssafa.org.uk
Head of Housing: Amanda Deakin on Amanda.d@ssafa.org.uk

A Message from the Ground staff for Dog Owners

It has been brought to our attention that some dog owners are using the general waste bins located around both play areas to dispose of dog waste. All the rubbish from these bins is classed as contaminated and is having to be placed in a different bin which is creating extra costs. This money could be spent elsewhere for the good and benefit of the soldiers.

Please take the waste home or use the appropriate dog waste bins which are located at

 Wade Ave ( near roundabout)
Top of Wade Ave ( Near garages)
 Hadrian Crescent (opposite Officers Mess)
Gate 7 of the Air field.
